How do I return an item?

Shipment Errors:

If an item is received damaged or if an item other than what was ordered was shipped please contact us immediately. Errors in shipments must be brought to our attention within 7 days of receiving the order and must be brought to our attention in the first contact regarding a return.

Shipment delays due to Weather, Acts of God, or carrier issues that could not be foreseen are not considered errors. Orders cannot be cancelled once shipped, and all the terms of our standard return policy would still apply.

Restricted Products:

Some items are prohibited for sale in many jurisdictions.This includes Ammunition, Firearms, Auto Knives, Magazines, etc. If the items ordered are not legal for sale/possession in your jurisdiction Joe Bob Outfitters reserves the right to cancel or modify your order and withhold a 15% restocking fee from any refunds issued. It is your responsibility to insure the legality of the items you're purchasing before placing your order.


CA: As of December 21 2017, Joe Bob Outfitters will no longer be able to ship or sell ammunition to customers residing in the state of California. Ammo may still be shipped to FFL Holders & Sworn Law Enforcement Officers in California with proper credentials.

NY: Due to the provisions of the NY SAFE Act orders containing ammunition must ship to a Valid FFL Holder.

Automatic Knives:

Federal law prohibits shipment of automatic knives across state lines, with the following exceptions:

1. Shipments to civilian or Armed Forces supply or procurement officers and employees of the Federal Government ordering, procuring, or purchasing such knives in connection with the activities of the Federal Government.

2. Shipments to an active Armed Forces member or employee acting in the performance of his or her duty.

3. Shipments to supply or procurement officers of the National Guard, the Air National Guard, or militia of a State, Territory or the District of Columbia ordering, procuring, or purchasing such knives in the connection with the activities of such organization.

4. Shipments to supply or procurement officers or employees of the municipal government of the District of Columbia or the government of an State or Territory, or any county, city or other political subdivision of a State or Territory.

5. Shipments to manufacturers or dealers of automatic knives in connection with any shipment made pursuant of an order from authorized persons as previously defined.

Joe Bob Outfitters will not sell any automatically opening knives as defined by The Switchblade Act, (Pub.L. 85-623, 72 Stat. 562, enacted on August 12, 1958, and Codified in 15 U.S.C. § 1241–1245) to any person or entity unless the sale and delivery of the knife is made in compliance with all Local, State, and Federal Laws as defined above.

By ordering an automatic knife, you recognize and acknowledge that it is your responsibility as the buyer to understand and obey local, state, and federal laws, in regard to the possession or purchase of the ordered products. By placing your order you further hereby represent and certify that your purchase of automatic opening knives from Joe Bob Outfitters meets one or more of the criteria set forth above.

California Customer Prerequisite:
You MUST contact your dealer PRIOR to placing an order to ensure the legality of the firearm you are wanting to purchase. Any returned firearms will be assessed a 15% restocking fee.

Age Requirements:

Federal law requires that you be 21+ Years of Age to purchase a stripped lower receiver or any firearm frame. Customers aged 18-20 are welcome to purchase any complete long guns (rifles or shotguns).

As of October 1, 2018 customers from VT ordering any firearm will need to be 21+ Years of Age.

Orders returned or cancelled due to customers not meeting age requirements for purchase will be assessed a 15% restocking fee.


No sales of magazines with a capacity greater than 10 rounds to CA, CT, IL (Cook County), MA, MD, NY, VT and HI (Handguns Only). No sales of magazines with a capacity greater than 15 rounds to NJ & CO.

Orders shipping to CA, CO, CT, HI, IL (Cook County), MA, MD, NJ, NY, VT containing prohibited magazines will be canceled and a 15% Restock Fee Assessed!

80% Lowers:

80% Lowers cannot be shipped to NJ, CT, RI, MD, CA, NY, or WA. Any orders containing 80% lowers shipping to NJ, CT, RI, MD, CA, NY, or WA will be canceled and a 15% Restock Fee Assessed!

Product Warranty:

Warranty claims and issues are handled through the product’s manufacturer and not through JoeBobOutfitters.

Products must be sent back to the manufacturer for exchange, repair, replacement, etc if found to be defective in any way. This helps streamline the warranty process for the customer and resolve issues quicker.

Defective products should not be returned to Joe Bob Outfitters without prior written approval under any circumstances. Refunds will not be issued for defective products unless the product has been sent back to and determined to be defective by the manufacturer and the manufacturer's RMA process has been completed. Any defects with products must be brought to our attention in the first contact regarding a return.

Return Policies:

Firearms, Ammo, and Clothing:

All sales of firearms, ammunition, and clothing are FINAL, and returns are NOT ACCEPTED unless prior approval is given.

Once a firearm is transferred to a customer Joe Bob Outfitters will not accept a return or exchange.

Firearms are subject to a minimum of 15% restocking fee if authorized for return due to the additional paperwork required.

Joe Bob Outfitters is not responsible for the reimbursement of any shipment costs or transfer fees due to a firearm being returned.

Clothing must be returned unworn and still with the original tags and/or packaging.

Articles of clothing will not be accepted for returns if they have any odor, including environmental odors such as those from smoke, cooking, or pets regardless of if they have been worn.

Any worn, soiled, altered, washed, or customer-damaged items cannot be returned and will be shipped back to you at your cost with no refund issued.

Ammunition cannot be returned at any time for any reason.

All Other Products:

We accept returns for 100% store credit or refund less 15% restocking fee. This must be done within 30 calendar days after delivery of the product.

All items must be in "new, unaltered, and unused condition". Products cannot have been installed or used in any fashion. Definition of new, unaltered, and unused condition is:

  1. Without showing any signs of wear or damage.
  2. Must contain original packaging in the same condition it was shipped. Products without original packaging will be refused.
  3. Cannot have been installed, used, or test fit in any way.

Refunds are contingent upon inspection of item(s) once we receive the return.

Please do NOT affix the shipping label directly on the packaging for the product. Placing it inside another box will help ensure safe arrival of product. If the factory packaging for the returned is not intact, has been tampered with, or is obscured by tape, shipping labels, etc a higher restocking fee may be assessed. We suggest using the same packaging and boxes that were used in the original shipment if at all possible.

Products returned with missing parts, damage, or in unsellable condition due to customer tampering, use, etc will result in a higher restocking fee or may not be accepted for a return at all.

The original sales receipt or invoice must accompany all returns and include a message from the customer stating if they would prefer a store credit or a refund to the card used at the time of purchase less a 15% restocking fee. Failure to indicate how you'd like the return processed will result in a store credit being issued.

Customers are responsible for ALL shipping costs for returns. Refunds are contingent upon inspection of item(s) once we receive the return.

Store credit will be issued as a gift certificate locked to the customer’s account to automatically be applied to future orders. An email will be sent once the credit has been applied to the account. This credit will be immediately available for use. Store credits are not transferable and have no cash value.

Refunds issued to the original credit card used at purchase will be subject to a 15% restocking fee and will take approximately 3 business days to reflect in the purchasing account from the time we process the return.

Orders canceled after being placed but before shipping are subject to up to a 15% restocking fee.
